After 2 Years of Decline, Foreign Workers and Students Flocking Back to Down Under

Australia used to be one of the most sought-after destinations for immigrants from all over the world. However, it made changes to the immigration policy, and the flocking of foreign nationals dropped. But with recent changes in policy, Australia decided to allow foreign nationals to work and study.

Australia has started taking foreign workers after two years of declining numbers. Now foreign workers and international students have started rushing to Australia, which is a positive move in the country’s immigration policies.

A couple of years ago, Australia decided to control the influx of foreign workers and students and hence made strict rules in their immigration policies, leading to declining in the numbers of foreign workers and students. For their strict immigration policies, Australia had to face a lot of criticism. The policies were seen as hostile and not in good taste for foreign workers and international students. This strictness and change in immigration policy by Australian bodies had influenced many foreign workers and international students to find and pursue opportunities elsewhere. This resulted in a significant drop in the number of immigrants to Australia.

Although, now, Australia has decided to shift from its previous stand on its immigration policies and allow international students and workers to move to and work or study in Australia. Also, its growing economy along with positive changes in immigration policies has resulted in a rise in the number of foreign workers and international students coming to Australia.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the number of international students in Australia has gone up by 10% in the first quarter of 2021, and the number of working holiday visas issued has also gone upward by 25% in the same period. This surge in the percentage of immigrants proves how the international community has welcomed this change in the immigration policy of Australia.

This change in policy is being welcomed by the Australian government, businesses, and universities. Australia has realized foreign workers and international students bring valuable skills and expertise to the country. Also, foreign workers are closing the gaps in the skilled market, wherever skilled professionals are needed. You will see it mostly in the agriculture and construction sectors in the country where there is a growing need for skilled professionals. It has been closely observed that international students are contributing to the country’s economy and bringing cultural diversity to Australian campuses.

Above all, the return of foreign workers and international students to Australia is a positive development and is seen as a very welcome move. It indicates a country’s inclusive and friendly approach to immigration and the international community people. It is expected that Australia will continue with this trend and it will remain to be a destination of choice for foreign workers and international students.
